Add and delete counterparties from the Counterparties screen
You can now add a counterparty yourself and delete one with a clear account of what happens to their transactions, both from the Counterparties screen. Until now a vendor or customer appeared only when a bank or card feed named it, and deleting one asked a plain yes or no.
Add a vendor or customer by hand
Select New counterparty and fill in Name, an optional Website (their logo is taken from it) and whether they are a Vendor, a Customer or both. Opened from the Vendors or Customers tab, that role is already ticked. Saving opens their page.
While you type the name, up to 3 counterparties already in your books that match it are listed as links. If a bank feed has already added the one you meant, open it instead of adding a second. An empty list now offers Add one by hand beside Connect an account. The counterparties guide walks through it.
Know what a delete leaves behind
Delete is in the ⋯ menu of each row and of a counterparty's own page. The dialog says how many transactions will be left without a counterparty (2 in the example above). They stay in your books, filed where they are, but name nobody. Anything of theirs not yet posted, such as draft bills, invoices and payments, is deleted with them. Rules that name them stop naming a counterparty.
When a counterparty has transactions, you type their name before Delete counterparty does anything. On a counterparty's page, Merge instead sits in the same dialog and keeps their transactions named. If a posted journal line names them, LedgerIt refuses the delete and the dialog shows why.
Attach a receipt email the search set aside
A mailbox search attaches an email only when its total, currency and date agree with the charge exactly. Others used to be set aside without a word, so a receipt you could see in your inbox read as "No receipt found". On a transaction in Transactions, the Receipts panel now lists Close matches in Gmail under the search button. Each row shows the sender, the day and why it was set aside, such as Total $0.01 less or In EUR. Select Attach to keep it as the receipt. See receipts from your mailbox.
Fixes and improvements
- Rows in the phone navigation menu are 36px tall instead of 40px, so more of Money in and out fits on one screen without scrolling. Desktop is unchanged.
- The public API can attach a set-aside email to a transaction, the same step as Attach in the panel. It is listed in the API reference as
mailbox_messages.attach.
