Our mission
Books that keep themselves. For every startup.
Our mission is to make a company's books correct to the cent, current to the day and explained down to the evidence, without anyone having to keep them. Founders should spend their hours on the company, not on its accounts.
Why
Ten times better, not ten percent
Accounting software has moved in small steps for decades. Founders still wait weeks for a close, export spreadsheets for their board and answer the same questions every month. Nobody switches their books for a product that is a little better than that. So we hold every part of LedgerIt to one bar: an order of magnitude better than what a founder can use today, measured in their time and in how far they can trust the numbers.
The books are a function of data that already exists, in the bank, the card program, Stripe and payroll. Nothing in the problem says a person has to type, chase or wait for any of it. That the industry still does is a habit, and habits can be broken.

How we build
Six tenets
Start from what is possible
We ask what the problem allows, not what accounting software has always done. Most limits in this industry are conventions.
Correct before anything
The database refuses an entry that does not balance, an edit to a posted line and a posting into a closed month. No feature trades that away.
Remove the work
The best step is the one nobody takes. A question a connected account can answer is never put to a founder.
Every number shows its evidence
Any figure on screen opens down to the entries and documents behind it.
Say what is true today
Our ambition is in what we build. What we say about LedgerIt is what it does now, and what is coming is labeled as coming.
Measure it
Every goal comes with the number that says whether we met it. When we meet one, the next is ten times further.
