Dashboard shows the next step for your close

The Dashboard now says what is left to do for the month you are closing, once, and gives you one button to start on it. When a single part is open and it waits on you, the headline names the work ("11 transactions to review") and the button opens it. When the work waits on your accountant, the headline says so and the button steps back.

One sentence, one action

The Dashboard reads the same month as Close, so the two never disagree about which month-end close you are on. One segmented meter shows how many of the month's six parts are ready, and the list under it shows only what the headline does not already say.

Each part opens the list its count comes from. "2 receipts need you" opens the Inbox on the missing receipts, with a chip that names the kind and its count, and a line under the list says how many items of that kind wait on other tabs. Bills open Bills.

Alerts that block the books are now a stack of cards with a counter and previous and next buttons. Open the options menu on a card to snooze it for a day or dismiss it, with Undo. A dismissed alert comes back if it gets worse.

Books with no connected bank and no figures show one panel, "Your numbers start with your bank", instead of seven $0.00 figures. Books with work waiting are never shown as empty.

Get started checklist

New books get a four-step Get started checklist above your profile in the sidebar: connect a bank, file your first transaction, invite your team and close your first month. LedgerIt ticks each step from your books, not from a click, so a step is done when the connection, the posted transaction, the second member or invitation, or the closed month exists. The checklist folds to one line, and leaves once all 4 steps are done. Owners and admins see it.

Receipts from the right person

When a card charge has no receipt, the Inbox now works out who spent it from the card program's own record, the address it has for them and the members of your books, instead of asking you who they are. A charge on a cardholder who is a member of your books is assigned to them, and the row offers Upload receipt, where you drop or pick the file. Brex cardholders are read once per person and refreshed every 30 days, which needs the Brex users read permission on your key. Without it, syncing carries on as before.

When no source can place a cardholder, the row asks "Is this you on Brex?" once, and remembers the answer. The button reads It's me. The Ask button now shows the cardholder's mark and their first name with their first family name, and hovering it shows the whole name, the address and which card program it came from.

Accruals with a department

An accrual can now carry a department. On Schedules, New accrual has a department field, and a schedule's page changes it in place until a close has posted from it. The close then writes the department on both lines of each entry, the release included. On books where an expense account requires a department, Accrue in the Inbox no longer fails: the row shows the department your vendor's charges agree on, ready to change before you accrue, and asks you to choose one when none is known.

Fixes and improvements

  • On a phone, an Inbox row's reason, finding and receipt lines now run the row's full width and wrap instead of cutting off after a few words.
  • The phone's top bar shows search and the bell. Ask about this screen and Hide amounts moved to the bottom of the navigation menu, and both are in the command palette, where "privacy" finds Hide amounts. While amounts are hidden, the crossed-out eye stays in the bar.
  • The question count on the Dashboard and the list its link opens now agree for owners and admins, including a question asked of someone who has left the books.
  • The sidebar's logo, books switcher and profile row no longer flash a skeleton each time the phone's navigation menu opens.
  • Receipts, payroll and revenue parts on the Dashboard open the Inbox tab where the work actually waits.
