Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to your books
You can now connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any other app that speaks MCP to your books and ask it about your cash, runway, statements and close. Open Settings → AI clients, copy one address into the app, sign in to LedgerIt, and choose which books it may open and how far it may go.
AI clients
The address is the same for every app and every company, and it is on every plan. AI clients has a button for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and Claude Code that walks you through adding it. The app never sees your password.
When an app asks to connect, LedgerIt shows who is asking, then lets you choose the books and the access. Read only is chosen for you and gives the app a viewer's access. Read and write lets it categorize a transaction, post or reverse an entry or write a rule, as you, within your own role. No app can invite people, send or approve a payment, change billing or see a payroll or tax identifier in full.
A request can only be answered in the browser where it started, so a consent link forwarded to you opens to a warning and shares nothing. Every app you allow is listed under Connected apps, where you change its access or Disconnect it. The guide is Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.
Share your books with investors
Instead of emailing a deck every month, give each investor their own link. It opens a read-only page of your closed months: each month's board pack and its balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement, as the close kept them. It never shows transactions, payroll, identifiers or a month that is still open.
On Investors, select Share with an investor, choose whether the link shows board packs, statements or both, and choose when it expires: never, or in 30 days, 90 days or a year. Every PDF carries a watermark naming the investor, and every CSV starts with a line saying who it was shared with. Each link shows how many times it was opened and when, and Revoke stops it at once. A link is shown once, when you make it. Owners and admins make and revoke links, and the API has them as investor_shares.
Accrue a cost in the month you used it
September's hosting bill, charged on October 3, used to land in October, so September looked cheap and October expensive. Now a cost belongs to the month it was used. On Schedules, select New accrual, say what it is, enter an estimate, and pick the month used, the expense account and the vendor if you know it. The close of that month books the estimate to 2200 Accrued liabilities.
When the vendor's charge lands, the close of that month takes the estimate back out, so only the difference remains. A $4,210.00 bill against a $4,000.00 estimate leaves $210.00 in October. Mark as paid releases an accrual no charge will release. When a vendor that bills every month has not billed this one, the Inbox now offers Accrue with the vendor's account and usual amount filled in.
Upload your own counterparty logo
When a counterparty's logo is wrong or missing, open it from Counterparties, select its logo, choose Upload logo and pick a PNG, JPEG or WebP image. It shows everywhere that counterparty is named, in your books only. Remove uploaded logo brings back the one found from their website.
Fixes and improvements
- Signing in with a passkey or an emailed link, then opening Settings → Security with an authenticator app set up, now asks for a code from the app and carries on. It used to show an error.
- Deleting an account that belongs to books works again. It failed for anyone who was a member of books.
- A request that names no books now lands in the same books every time for someone who belongs to several.
- A vendor's W-9 link and a cardholder's receipt link open without a LedgerIt sign-in again.
- A draft invoice shows Getting paid with its email reminders, so they can be on from the day it is issued.
- Opening an entry on Ledger puts each line's account under the description and its amount under Amount.
- Assistant answers show their field labels and status words in all eight languages, and its search results and the command palette show a counterparty's logo.
- An assistant answer that stalled after a restart and stopped with every step Not finished now finishes, and Stop ends it at once.
- Close and Reports put the answer first: the verdict and what is in the way at the top of Close, totals first on the balance sheet and cash flow.
- Budgets, fixed assets, GL accounts and assistant conversations are renamed by clicking their name.
- A broken connection on Integrations shows Reconnect on its row, and Plaid shows its own logo.
