Upload receipts and photograph them

You can now give LedgerIt a receipt yourself. Upload a PDF or a photo on Documents, and LedgerIt reads it and attaches it to the charge it belongs to.

Upload a receipt or take a photo

On Documents, select Upload and choose one or more files: a PDF, or a JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF image, up to 25 MB each. On a phone, Take a photo opens the camera directly. A file that is refused says why, before it is sent.

LedgerIt reads the vendor, date, total and tax off each receipt and shows how sure it is of each, as a percentage, or Not sure when it is not. A receipt is attached on its own only when exactly one charge has its total, in its currency. Otherwise it waits under Needs a match, named by what was read, such as "Blue Bottle Coffee, −$33.75".

You can also open a transaction and choose Attach a receipt to put one on that charge directly. To undo a match, use the cross beside the transaction under Supports. A receipt that supports nothing can be deleted.

What needs you today, on Home

The top of Home now lists what needs you. A connection that is failing, a sign-in that is due, or a month with overdue close tasks leads the page, each with one action: Fix the connection or Open the close. Below it, Needs you today counts the transactions to review, the receipts to match and the open items.

Connections now say how healthy they are on Integrations. A connection shows Behind when it has not synced within 24 hours (one hour for Stripe), and Sign in again soon when its bank login expires within 7 days, with the date.

An Inbox for everything left unfinished

Inbox lists every item LedgerIt could not finish on its own, across every month: card spend with no receipt, an account that disagrees with its statement, or a transaction its source says never happened. Each item links to its record. Select Mark done, or press R, to close it with a note, and use the tabs to read what was dealt with.

Save a journal entry as a draft

New journal entry now has Save draft. A draft needs only a date and a description, so an entry missing one figure can be kept and finished later. Drafts appear above the entries on Ledger, marked Ready to post or Not balanced yet. A draft's own page has Post the entry and Discard draft, and refuses to save over a draft someone else changed meanwhile.

Fixes and improvements

  • The assistant opens beside any screen from the star in the top bar, or with ⌘J. It is told which screen, month or record you are looking at, so you can ask "why was this booked here?" without pasting an id.
  • Each transaction's page now says how it was filed and why: by a rule, by the model's proposal, or by a person's correction.
  • Rules has a page for each rule, listing what it matches and the transactions it filed.
  • The close screen's blockers are now links to the transactions in the way, narrowed to that month. A month that was closed, reopened and closed again shows each close, with the reason it was undone.
  • Reconciliations are kept for each account. Every comparison against a statement is listed, and an account can be checked from its own page.
  • A GL account can be renamed, and closed when you no longer use it. Its code and type do not change.
  • A report's accounts open their activity for the report's own period, and Back returns to the same statement and dates.
  • A journal entry has its own page, showing what it was posted from and which entry reversed or replaced it.
  • Activity lists every change to your books, newest first, and records show their own history.
  • Search with ⌘K now finds records by name: GL accounts, counterparties, transactions, journal entries and rules.
  • On Transactions, press A to accept a suggested account, E to choose one, and the cursor moves to the next row. ? lists the shortcuts on each screen.
  • Transactions are now a single list of rows at every width, and the dashboard opens on net assets with a chart you can drag across.
  • Interactive controls that mark where you are are now drawn in black and white instead of blue.
  • The categorizer is now told whether a transaction is money in or out, so a customer refund or a processor fee is no longer proposed as a sale.
