Close checklist for every month

Each month's close now has a checklist. Write down the steps your close needs, give each an owner and a due day, and sign them off one by one before you close the month.

A checklist on Close

Open Close and add tasks such as "Book the payroll accrual" or "Send the close summary to the board". A task can have an owner from your members and a due day, counted from the end of the month. The card shows how far you are, for example "2 of 5 signed off", and marks a task Overdue once its day has passed.

Every task is signed off for one month at a time, so August's sign-offs never tick September's list. A month cannot close while a task is unsigned unless you force the close. If your list is empty, Add the usual five starts you with a standard set. Tasks are also available in the API and the SDK as closeTasks.

Burn and runway on the dashboard

The dashboard now shows cash, net burn and runway. Burn is averaged over up to the last three complete months. With too little history it says "Not enough history yet", and a company that is making money reads "Not burning". The same figures are in the API as reports.burn.

A bell for what needs you

The bell in the top bar holds your inbox: a connection that is failing, transactions that need review, a member who joined, and a period that was closed or reopened. Settings → Notifications has one switch per kind, set separately for each set of books. Notifications are in the API and the SDK too.

Rules, on their own screen

Rules in the sidebar lists every rule. Write one with New rule, choose the account it files to, narrow it to one bank or card account and an amount band, then pause, resume or delete it later. Saving a duplicate of an existing rule now says so, instead of failing with an error.

Fixes and improvements

  • Settings → Developers creates API keys, shown once, with read or write scope. A key opens only its own books, and the TypeScript SDK now has a method for every operation.
  • Settings → Automation sets when the model's category posts on its own: a confidence from 0.80 to 0.99, a ceiling of up to $25,000, and a lower ceiling for a first payment to a new counterparty.
  • Brex is live on Integrations. Card charges now carry their expense, with receipts, the spender and a link to Brex, on a new page for each transaction.
  • Every Brex sync with a date range used to fail with "Bad request". It no longer does.
  • Counterparties lists every vendor and customer with a search, and Brex, Mercury and Ramp syncs now name them. Each shows its logo beside its name.
  • The chart of accounts is now GL accounts, so "Accounts" means your bank and card accounts. The old links redirect.
  • The Integrations page lists only what you have connected. Add connection opens a dialog with banks and cards under one heading.
  • On the Ledger, Edit on a manual entry reverses it and posts the correction, and asks why. The ledger shows the current treatment, and Show corrections brings back the reversed entries.
  • The assistant can copy, ask again and edit your own messages.
  • New accounts are set up in a short walkthrough, including a step to invite your accountant.
  • An accounting firm can be given access under Settings → Accounting firm access, with a portfolio of its clients.
  • An amount with more decimals than your currency allows is refused instead of being rounded.
  • Chrome no longer fills your LedgerIt password into a provider's API key field.
